I had a teacher in college who said your career is to be an artist (or writer), but your job is to manage your career. You, the manager, must make sure you, the creative, is doing your job every day.

Wonderful thoughts. I’ve heard that you should treat writing as a career even before you’re published, but I have a tendency to downplay my writing. I should probably stop doing that, shouldn’t I?
