The 4th of July Weekend is No Picnic

At least not for Shasta. The sound of fireworks scares her so bad that she spends the night shivering and panting, and usually ends up wetting herself.
This year we gave her some anti-anxiety drugs. How well do they work, you ask? Really well. Too well, actually.
Nothing bothers her now. Not even things like, I don’t know… walking?
tipsy shasta
Newt and I composed a little video for your viewing pleasure. Be sure to watch all the way to the end for fun a surprise.

Hope your 4th of July is relaxing too, but not too relaxing!

    • Poor Shasta? Poor Newt. The pee puddle was on her bed.
And poor me. I had to clean it up.
Only two more days of fireworks….

  2. Ha, ha! Poor thing. Fireworks are fun for people but I can imagine it would scare animals pretty badly!

By the way, if you like making homemade foods, I think a tortilla press is totally worth it! It made the process so fast and we all loved them! I paid about $20 for mine on Amazon which is a cast iron one. I think they even have some that are cheaper.

  5. Poor thing; they’re pathetic, aren’t they?! We’ve had to give our dog vet-prescribed valium on the 4th, for the past three years. This year, however, she’s gotten so senile (15 years), that she forgot that she’s afraid! She kind of reacted to one boom but, by the time she got to the bedroom to hide, she forgot why she was hiding!

    • Poor thing. Ours is definitely heading that direction. Sometimes she whines at the door to go outside and when she get there she looks all confused and just stands there. 🙂 Thanks for commenting!
